JOB DESCRIPTION

We, the Training Design and Standards Organisation (Gosport), part of the Defence School of Aeronautical Engineering, are responsible for the design and assessment of aero engineering courses for the Royal Navy. This position is for an Avionic designer/developer at DSAE Gosport (within HMS Sultan). You will be working in an encouraging environment with a line manager mentor, as well as numerous other experienced training designers, examiners and training managers.
Whilst formal training in course design is a requirement of the position and will be provided, experience of training delivery and/or an instructing qualification (e.g., Certificate in Education), would be desirable.
This post is advertised at 37 hours per week and attracts (annually reviewed) a non-pensionable allowance of £6000 per annum in addition to the basic salary.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must have served a recognised aeronautical engineering apprenticeship or a relevant recognised alternative period of aeronautical training and possess an appropriate National Qualification (L4 ONC/OND, Foundation Degree).
OR
Applicants who have completed a UK Armed Forces Aircraft Engineering apprenticeship and have attained Senior Non-Commissioned Officer level and have a proven track record of aircraft technical experience will be deemed to meet the necessary requirements.
Both routes must have 5 years recent experience in that trade

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments. Requirements to attend other locations for official business, or work in another MOD office, will also count towards this level of attendance.
