ABOUT THIS POSITION
Over 50 million passengers traveled through Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport in 2024, one of the busiest airports in the country in the nation’s 5th largest city. Sky Harbor is the largest of three airports in the Phoenix Airport System (Phoenix Sky Harbor, Deer Valley, and Goodyear airports) which is operated by the City of Phoenix Aviation Department and has an economic impact over $44 billion annually.
The City of Phoenix Aviation Department is seeking a Fire Alarm & Building Automation Systems Supervisor (Senior User Technology Specialist). This supervisory position provides technical hardware and software support for automated building control networks and systems. These systems include building automation controls, energy management, fire/life safety, access control, CCTV, environmental sensors, covert alarms and other specialized automated building and life/safety networked systems. The supervisor filling this vacancy will direct technicians who install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, program and calibrate building automation, security/access control, CCTV, fire alarm/life safety, environmental sensors and Energy Management components, systems, and networks.
Additionally, the supervisor will manage technicians who develop, modify, and implement computer graphics, software programs and database management. The supervised technicians install and maintain network wiring and wireless communications using copper, fiber optics, switched and microprocessor-based network controllers. The supervisor will also be responsible for reviewing blueprints, drawings and schematics for proposed projects and equipment.
The candidate must be detail-oriented, work diligently to meet tight deadlines and communicate effectively with direct reports and internal customers. An ideal candidate will be a leader who has well-rounded Aviation industry supervisory and management experience in working with technical workers, contractors, vendors and engineers.
Duties include reducing operational costs and improving productivity and efficiency, evaluating technical building systems, and making recommendations for system expansions, upgrades, modifications, and replacement. The candidate must be able to manage contracts and projects and meticulously maintain operational and personnel related records/logs.
