QUALIFICATIONS:

  • FAA Mechanic Certificates with applicable ratings (FAR part 147 Appendix B, C, and D).
  • Minimum three years’ aviation maintenance experience or approval by Director of Education and Executive VP of Education.

NEW INSTRUCTOR REQUIREMENTS:

  • Three or more years’ experience (not necessarily as an A&P instructor).
  • Hands-on experience as an A&P Maintenance Technician (preferably supervisory).
  • Advanced Aircraft Systems Instructors should have avionics and electrical maintenance experience, preferably with FCC/NCATT Certification.
  • Ability to develop and update lesson plans and curriculum guides.
  • Strong communication skills and classroom management.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Valid Airframe and Power Plant Certificate.
  • High School Diploma required; Post-Secondary Degree preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Basic understanding of the Internet.

Responsibilities

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Train students according to the approved curriculum, enabling them to take FAA, FCC, and NCATT exams.
  • Follow the approved curriculum and policies, with flexibility for temporary interruptions.
  • Work schedule: Monday to Friday (AM shift: 7:30am – 3:30pm, PM shift: 4:00pm – 11:59pm; schedules may vary).
  • Take daily attendance and enter grades within 24 hours of completion.
  • Monitor student attendance and ensure all material is delivered and completed.
  • Handle missed tests/exams and practical projects.
  • Review and document attendance and grades daily.
  • Maintain a daily planner and follow lesson plans.
  • Review curriculum, student catalog, and policies before term start.
  • Maintain professional appearance and attitude.
  • Maintain training aids, tools, and manuals.
  • Ensure proper supply of materials and timely notification of needed materials.
  • Keep classroom, lab, and hangar neat and orderly.
  • Coordinate with Hangar Operation Director and staff during hangar training.
  • Be a good steward of NAA assets.
