Overview Joby Aviaiton is seeking an Aviation Safety Analyst to support BLADE Aviation Mobility safety programs and Safety Management System (SMS) initiatives for our New York regional operations. Supporting the Corporate Safety team and Flight Operations leadership, this role will support identifying operational risks and strengthening mitigation processes across our contracted helicopter and seaplane networks. The Analyst will drive safety performance by reviewing incident reports, performing trend analysis, and managing emergency response frameworks. By conducting rigorous investigations and contractor oversight, this position ensures that Blade’s operations remain at the forefront of aviation safety and regulatory compliance. This is a temporary, full-time position with the potential of moving to permenant after 6 months. Responsibilities Monitor and report on the implementation of safety programs and procedures designed to mitigate crewmember, passenger, and aircraft incidents, as well as regulatory violations. Conduct risk assessments of operational hazards and develop mitigation controls to reduce operational risk. Track safety risk control implementation, including action tracking, closure verification, and safety performance trend indicators. Prepare safety summaries and reports for Flight Operations leadership and aviation safety governance forums. Support the change management process by documenting safety risk assessments for operational, procedural, and organizational changes. Serve as a liaison between Flight Operations and Corporate Safety teams to coordinate safety initiatives and risk mitigation efforts. Conduct annual safety audits of contracted helicopter and seaplane operators, documenting findings and preparing audit reports. Monitor and analyze contract operator safety performance, identifying trends and presenting findings to the Quarterly Aviation Safety Committee. Support ground event and operational safety investigations, including documentation and coordination with operational leadership. Analyze data from safety events, self-assessments, inspections, and audits to identify trends and recommend corrective actions. Support root cause analysis and corrective action development to improve operational safety performance. Assist in monitoring contractor compliance with FAA regulatory requirements and corporate safety standards. Required Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Safety, Aviation Management, Aerospace, or related field, or equivalent operational experience. 2+ years of aviation safety, flight operations, or aviation compliance experience. Knowledge of FAA regulations (14 CFR Part 135 preferred). Experience with Safety Management Systems (SMS). Experience conducting aviation safety audits, risk assessments, or safety investigations. Strong analytical and communication skills with the demonstrated ability to prepare safety reports and briefings. Desired Experience supporting helicopter or seaplane operations. Familiarity with ARGUS, IS-BAO, or aviation safety audit frameworks. Experience working with contracted aviation operators. Experience with safety reporting and data analysis systems. Additional Information This is a temporary role, anticipated to last up to 6 months with the potential to go full-time. The target base pay for this position is $76,800-$115,000/yr.
