Responsibilities

The Aviation Survey Officer (APS6) is an AAD Head Office role located in Hobart that reports directly to the Assistant Director Aviation Operations (EL1) and forms an integral element of the AAD’s Aviation Section & the wider Operations and Logistics Branch.

Key duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing AAD aviation operations subject matter expertise on surveying, mapping & general civil construction, including emerging technologies (such as remote sensing in high/low latitudes).
  • Providing AAD aviation operations subject matter expertise input for potential alternative runway or ski landing area sites.
  • Engaging with internal and external stakeholders and contractors to develop and maintain the necessary framework to ensure ongoing survey work at Wilkins and future survey work at any future sites.
  • Lead the development of new procedures associated with Wilkins and future sites.
  • Develop business cases for any future aviation projects.
  • Working effectively and with minimal direction within the multi-disciplinary Operations and Logistics Branch.
  • Working with the Work Health and Safety section to implement and maintain safe work procedures across the aviation operations.
