Job Overview Work directly with AVID students in secondary school tutorial settings and assist them with college preparatory courses. Position Description Essential Duties and Responsibilities Interact with AVID students by using tutorial request forms and provide tutorial feedback Facilitate problem solving groups in the AVID classroom Become familiar with AVID strategies and methodologies used by the AVID teachers and students Critique and evaluate AVID student binders Support AVID students in the process of writing, inquiry, critical reading, and collaboration Support AVID students in their understanding and use of Costa’s three levels of inquiry Assist AVID students with the college readiness process including timeline, search, application, and financial assistance Participate in AVID tutor training Meet and interact regularly with the AVID Site Coordinator/Elective Teacher and discuss student progress and future tutorial plans Participate, as necessary, in university/college visits with the AVID students Be an advocate for the AVID students and work with the AVID Site Coordinator/Elective Teacher Qualification Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the above essential duties satisfactorily.
