JOB DESCRIPTION

Working for BAE Systems supporting U.S. Customs and Border Protection presents a unique opportunity. You will experience a variety of system technologies which present both challenge and reward. The Field Service Engineer position entails wire harness fabrication, installation and termination in accordance with NAVAIR 01-1A-505 series and AC 43.13-1B guidance, utilizing common test equipment for wiring continuity testing and assisting in system checkout of modified or existing avionics and mission systems. This position is part of a team located in Jacksonville FL onboard the Cecil Commence Center which modifies primarily CBP P3 aircraft with future growth to DHC-8 aircraft.
This position is located in Jacksonville, FL. There is no relocation assistance available for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to Jacksonville or surrounding areas.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS

High school diploma or equivalent and at least 4 years of avionics experience
Relevant U.S. Military avionics or commercial electronics training
Valid U.S. Driver’s license
Knowledge of NAVAIR 01-1A-505 Electrical Wiring and Interconnections Systems procedures
Knowledge of aircraft wiring best practices and aircraft wire identification
Experience with wire processing tooling such as strippers, crimpers, positioners, turrets
Experience with connector contact insertion and extraction tooling and methods
Experience troubleshooting avionics systems utilizing common test equipment such as multimeters, cable testers or databus analyzers
Ability to read and interpret installation drawings, integration plans and test procedures
Ability to lift 30 pounds and work on ladders and equipment platforms
Ability to work in aircraft performing wiring harness and equipment installations in accordance with drawings or written direction

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS

Ability to identify proper connectors, strain reliefs or back-shells
Knowledge of specific R.F. and signal connector types such as BNC, SMA, TNC and N-type
Experience terminating complex Coaxial, Triaxial or Quadraxial connector or contact types
Ability to inspect, troubleshoot and resolve issues that effect intended operation or quality
Specific training or experience in specialized interconnection technology such as fiber optic or CAT-5/6 cable and connector termination
