Avionics Manufacturing Engineer (Spacecraft) Department: Manufacturing Employment Type: Full Time Location: Redondo Beach Compensation: $110,000 - $130,000 / year Description As an Avionics Manufacturing Engineer (Mira vehicle), you will work across disciplines to deliver a suite of avionics for our Mira vehicle. Mira is a highly maneuverable vehicle that provides precise, responsive payload hosting and deployment across any orbit. Flight-proven and responsible for the two largest orbital maneuvers ever made by a nitrous-based system, Mira’s high-thrust, agile platform delivers uncompromising performance for dynamic space operations across all sectors. Leveling will be commensurate with experience. Responsibilities · Own Mira avionics in the manufacturing organization. Serve as primary point of contact for both flight hardware and ground support equipment. · Work with Mira program management to define schedules for deliverables. · Own mechanical assembly of Mira avionics system by working with subject matter experts within the manufacturing team (machine shop, mechanisms, PCBAs, RF, optics, harnessing, batteries and solar arrays). · Design manufacturing processes and write manufacturing procedures for mechanical assembly of the overall avionics system. · Design manufacturing tooling and fixtures. · Train and guide technicians building avionics hardware. · Collaborate with design engineers to on DFM of Mira avionics. · Collaborate with cross functional teams on quality and long-term reliability. · Ensure the timely delivery of avionics components to Integration. · Provide day-to-day support for the production floor, resolving build issues, updating work instructions, and improving yields. · Support environmental and functional testing in production. Minimum Qualifications ·Bachelors' degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field ·3+ years of demonstrated development or manufacturing experience with electronics and/or optics, preferably for space applications · Proven experience leading cross-functional teams to deliver technically complex projects · Proficiency in mechanical design using Siemens NX Preferred Skills and Experience · M.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field · 6+ years of experience in spacecraft avionics manufacturing · Experience with setting up and scaling manufacturing lines · Strong project management skills Additional Information: Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity.
