Stratolaunch is a technology accelerator that engineers operationally realistic testing at Mach 5+. Our air-launched, Talon testbeds are reusable, cost-effective platforms that enable routine access to the hypersonic environment. We deliver flight data critical to validating system performance and achieving rapid technology deployment. To help achieve these efforts, Stratolaunch is seeking a level II, Sr-, or Staff-level to Avionics Manufacturing Engineer support design, integration, testing, and maintenance of the hypersonic vehicle electrical and avionics systems. You will create shop definition including, wiring diagrams, harness drawings, and work instructions describing manufacturing detailed information to be released to the electrical shop. Liaison engineering is required in the electrical shop to provide technicians with sufficient support to complete the task on hand. This will include, but not limited to, providing alternate information to part numbers, explain electrical manufacturing processes from Aerospace industry standards, redline engineering documentation, source, and purchase electrical components, and act as the bridge between the engineering design team and the operations team to ensure Fit-Form-Function criteria is met for design and manufacturing. This position will include evaluation of a broad range of technical data. Candidates must have an aerospace development background and relevant experience in aerospace systems integration.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge of, and experience with, one or more of these disciplines: electrical engineering, electrical design/drafting, avionics, experimental aircraft and/or launch vehicle integration
  • Experience with Aerospace Specifications for electrical manufacturing
  • Experience with aerospace production documentation (drawings and work orders)
  • Experience with PDM systems, Engineering Change Control and release processes (including redline incorporation)
  • Experience integrating launch vehicle or aircraft electrical power systems
  • Experience with the creation of shop work instructions, including wiring diagrams and drawings
  • Familiarity with common aerospace hardware such as connectors, relays, and wire types
  • Direct hands-on experience with aircraft electrical system installation and best practices
  • Facilitation skills and ability to communicate technical challenges and guidance to varied audiences to gain support or resolve concerns
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and prioritize tasking to fit within the business goals
  • Complex aerospace system development
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Security clearance

REQUIRED COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Wiring diagram tools: Siemens Capital Logic/Harness, or equivalent
  • Lab equipment: Oscilloscopes, multimeters, AC/DC power supplies, signal generators
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD
  • MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

PREFERRED COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • Siemens Capital/Mentor Graphics
  • 3D CAD modeling experience – NX, CATIA, or Solidworks
  • Labview
  • Familiarity with configuration management systems – Jira (preferred)

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Level II ($80,100-$128,700): Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from accredited institution and 2-5 years of engineering experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Sr Level ($95,500-$153,500): Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from accredited institution and 5-10 years of engineering experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Staff Level ($124,500-$200,000): Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from accredited institution and 10-20 years of engineering experience, OR equivalent combination of education and experience
Responsibilities
  • Create wiring diagrams, harness drawings, and work instructions to fabricate, install or modify electrical and/or avionics subsystems
  • Reference 3D CAD models and integrate into 2D environments.
  • Support the shop by acting as the engineering liaison to troubleshoot documentation issues and provide real-time support on the shop floor
  • Troubleshoot electrical and avionics ground test issues
  • Develop test plans and procedures, as required
  • Support hypersonic vehicle integrated testing, as required
  • Regular and comprehensive communication to your lead
  • Contribute to the integration of complex aerospace systems
  • Travel, as needed, to support the department
