We are committed to providing our employees with personal and professional growth opportunities while fostering a culture of respect and well-being with a small company feel.   What you can expect as an Avionics Maintenance Technician at West Star: Our Avionics Maintenance Technicians are responsible for troubleshooting and repairing problems to the component level on avionics units (i.e. Navs, Coms, Pulse, Radar, Audio, and Autopilot Systems), as well as the aircraft systems.   You will be ESSENTIAL to many FUNCTIONS, including: * Perform general avionics support items on aircraft. This shall include, but not be limited to, items such as the removal and installation of panels and components, and repair work. * Troubleshooting and evaluation of systems on the aircraft when designated. * Inspection and evaluation of the aircraft and components when designated. * Aircraft movement and performance verification of systems. * Maintenance and repair of shop facility, equipment, and tooling to support operations. * Work with customers in project management, pricing, and customer support roles. * Work independently on projects. * Any other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor or management. * Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English * Basic computer skills to be able to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases   Qualifications What You’ll Need to Bring with You: Your Education: A high school diploma or equivalent. Electronics or Avionics factory training is preferred. A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal but not mandatory. Your Experience: 1+ years of experience in Avionics repair or installation is preferred. Your Initiative: We’re looking for team players who are self-motivated and able to perform in a fast-paced environment where working under specific deadlines and time constraints will be common. Dealing with customers and the capacity to perform work with minimal supervision will also be required. Your Sense of Responsibility: • Attend work every day as scheduled, including overtime and weekend assignments. • Notify your supervisor in advance of shift start if unable to work. • Must have reliable transportation to get to work every day. • Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines. • Follow all company and safety rules during the performance of duties. • Maintain customer-oriented work habits. Other Particulars: Physical Requirements: • Lift 50 lbs. • Routine walking, bending, squatting, or sitting. • Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands. • Standing for long periods of time. • Climb ladders and stairs; work in small, restricted areas. • Basic computer skills. Mental Requirements: • Understanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines. • Troubleshoot, evaluate, and perform functional tests for various avionics and instrument systems. • professionally work with others. Supervision: • Work under the supervision of the assigned Avionics Team Leader. Working Conditions: • Work is performed in a hangar environment subject to extreme temperature variations, from very cold to very hot. • Work outside during aircraft runs will occur. • Varied positions in and around the aircraft. Equipment Used: • Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic. • Pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical equipment. • Jacks, stands, lifts, and other support devices. • Tugs, power carts, and other engine-powered equipment. • Crimpers, soldering iron, and heat guns. • Personal computer and work order prints.   The lists above include the main items for this job position to be successful, but are not limited to other things that might arise over time.
