Sheridan College is seeking an innovative and collaborative technology leader to serve as its next Chief Information Officer (CIO). This is a pivotal opportunity to shape Sheridan’s digital strategy and ensure that technology enables exceptional learning, research, and operational excellence.
LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
First Nations peoples have lived on this part of Turtle Island for millennia, stewarding the land, the water and all that contributes to life in this region. Today, the culture and presence of First Nations, Inuit and Metis peoples enrich the lands and people of this territory.
Over two centuries ago, the Mississauga people welcomed settlers to this territory, providing sustenance and engaging in trade and commerce. Between 1781 to 1820, eight treaties were signed with the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation who opened their territory to settlement. Today, Sheridan campuses are located on Treaty 14, also known as the Head of the Lake Purchase of 1806 and Treaty 22 and 23 of 1820.
Treaty history is foundational, and it is our collective responsibility to honour the land, as we honour and respect those who have gone before us, those who are here and those who have yet to come. We are grateful for the opportunity to be learning, working and thriving on this land, and we commit to learn the truth and be active in the process of reconciliation.
Reporting to the Vice-President, Administrative Services, the CIO will be responsible for developing and implementing Sheridan’s IT strategy, overseeing infrastructure and enterprise systems, and delivering technology solutions that advance Sheridan’s academic mission and operational goals. The CIO will play a critical role in fostering a culture of innovation, service excellence, and digital transformation.
Leading a talented IT team, the CIO will oversee technology governance, cybersecurity, infrastructure management, enterprise applications, and support services, ensuring robust, secure, and scalable systems. They will collaborate across the College to understand evolving technology needs, prioritize initiatives, and deliver solutions that enhance the student and employee experience.
Key areas of responsibility include:
Strategic IT Transformation – Develop and implement Sheridan’s IT strategy to support academic and operational excellence, incorporating emerging technologies and digital transformation initiatives.
Operational Oversight – Ensure the secure and reliable operation of IT services, including network infrastructure, enterprise applications, ERP systems, cybersecurity, and support services.
Team Leadership and Development – Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing IT team, fostering a culture of collaboration, service excellence, and innovation.
IT Governance and Policy – Provide guidance on IT governance structures, policies, and priorities. Support decision-making for technology investments and data management practices.
Collaboration and Partnership – Partner with academic, research, and administrative leaders to align technology initiatives with institutional priorities. Build strategic relationships with external technology providers.
