Description Under minimal supervision, the AVP-Credit Analyst/Underwriter works independently to perform various tasks specifically related to credit analysis, loan portfolio management, and underwriting less complex small business loan requests. The incumbent exercises independent judgement to analyze business/commercial and personal credit information from borrowers and guarantors to determine risk involved in lending money to new and existing small & large business and commercial real estate projects. This position requires that the individual work in office, independently, and with minimal supervision. Ensure compliance within all Bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Utilize Portfolio Management software to monitor and analyze credit risks within the loan portfolio. Specifically, identify geographic and property type exposures and assess market risks Manages the portfolio monitoring process to identify loan relationships with higher risk concerns based on external monitoring Develops credit stress scenarios divided by property types and develops stress analysis on construction development projects Supports the annual CRE loan review and tickler monitoring processes Reviews and spreads financials for individual and entity borrower(s) and guarantors, which includes personal financial statements, interim business operating and Profit & Loss Statements, and federal tax returns Works directly with Senior Loan Underwriters to address issues, obtain required clarifications and information from either Loan Officers and/or Borrowers as directed Prepare credit request authorizations and detailed credit analysis for presentation to Bank’s Loan Committee Responsible for performing analytical and operational support duties within the Loan Department including the management of various portfolios servicing functions including, but not limited to, annual portfolio financial reviews and covenant monitoring Review and analyze credit reports, appraisal assumptions and leases identifying concerns or issues that may impact the lending decision and reporting same to Sr. Underwriters and/or Loan Officers Responsible for performing analytical reviews and managing various portfolios servicing functions including, but not limited to, annual portfolio financial reviews and covenant monitoring Reviews and spreads financials for individual(s) and entity borrower(s) and guarantors, which includes personal financial statements, interim business operating and Profit & Loss Statements, and federal tax returns Works directly with Sr. Loan Underwriters to address issues, obtain required clarifications and information from either Loan Officers and/or Borrowers as directed Review and analyze credit reports, appraisal assumptions and leases identifying concerns or issues that may impact the lending decision Minimum of 10 hours CRA volunteer hours per year. Volunteer hours are typically scheduled within business hours. This is compensable time and mileage is reimbursed Other duties as assigned Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications: Minimum 3-5 years of commercial banking experience preferred Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written with ability to effectively interface with co-workers and borrowers as required Strong analytical skills and the ability to define problems, collect and research data and draw valid conclusions regarding financial strengths and weaknesses Proficient computer skills including Excel and spreadsheet software Requires ability to work full-time schedule and maintain regular attendance Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment Physical/Mental Demands & Work Environment: The incumbent in the course of performing this position frequently spends time writing, typing, speaking, listening, operating basic business equipment, seeing (such as close, color and peripheral vision, depth perception and adjusted focus), sitting, walking, standing, reading documents or instruments, detailed work, problem solving, client contact, reasoning, math, language, presentations, verbal and written communication, analytical reasoning, stress, multiple concurrent tasks, and constant interruptions. The incumbent for this position will occasionally lift up to 15 pounds, pull, squat, kneel and reach. The incumbent is in a non-confined office-type setting in which they are free to move about at will. The work environment is typically quiet to a moderate noise level.
