Role Summary Oversees, plans, develops, and coordinates programs and plans that result in profitable sales at agreed upon growth rates, acceptable premium, persistency, independent agency strength, and expense levels.

TYPICAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES:

Education/Certification/Licenses: Undergraduate studies in insurance, business, finance, marketing or related field. Technical designation such as CPCU, CLU, or equivalent insurance education preferred.
Experience/Skills: Ten years of field sales management or technical insurance experience. Proven knowledge of sales program development, distribution systems, and training concepts involving products, rules, and rating plans. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in written form, with all levels of management; advanced organizational abilities and the capability to manage several diverse tasks concurrently; high levels of credibility and professionalism in dealings with senior executives and the board of directors.
Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.
Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring manager’s leader and HR Business Partner.

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversees the selection, training, evaluation, and compensation of the sales organization to ensure a high degree of competency and professionalism.
Oversees the planning and development of the integrated sales programs. Secures the production of a satisfactory volume of new quality business and maintains high persistency of policies in force.
Recommends sales production quotas for all lines of insurance and associated products.
Responsible for the delivery of quality data at the agency level at the point of acquisition.
Responsible for independent agency revenue and growth to meet company plans.
Monitors independent agent recruiting activities to ensure a sufficient number of quality candidates are available to meet agency strength requirements.
Plans, implements, and communicates policies, procedures, and financial budgets that result in attainment of sales objectives.
Oversees the hiring, supervising, training and promoting of candidates regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, or disability in support of Nationwide’s Affirmative Action Program.
Performs other duties as assigned.
