This role is pivotal in advancing our core Purpose: helping Clients achieve lifetime financial security and live healthier lives, and our commitment to sustainability plays an important part in achieving that.
In this dynamic position, you will be at the forefront of Sun Life’s sustainability efforts, working within a corporate team of over 40 highly specialized professionals under the leadership of our Senior Vice-President and Chief Sustainability Officer. Your role will be instrumental in shaping and executing our sustainability reporting strategy, ensuring our disclosures are insightful, credible, and adaptable to future needs.
As AVP, you will lead the development of proactive qualitative and quantitative reporting, overseeing the creation of our annual sustainability report and related materials. Your responsibilities will extend to overseeing the management of corporate client information requests, ESG ratings and assessment questionnaires, and internal reporting.
The sustainability landscape is rapidly evolving, with new regulations, expanding assurance requirements, and emerging technologies like AI reshaping the field. In this role, you will be a driving force for innovation in sustainability reporting, engaging with and advising executives on strategy during this transformative period.
You will collaborate with a broader network of sustainability teams across our global operations in Canada, the U.S., Asia, and Asset Management. Together, you’ll contribute to the execution of our enterprise sustainability strategy, which has been endorsed by our Global Leadership Team and approved by our Board of Directors.
This position offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in a company where sustainability is deeply valued, with 93% of employees believing in its importance and 86% understanding its connection to our Purpose.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure continued strong processes and controls as the foundation of all reporting strategies, to give external report users, executives and our Board of Directors confidence in the information we put forward to the market.
  • Lead a high-performing team (9) and nurture top talent.
  • Represent Sun Life and the Sustainability Reporting & Disclosures team at important industry events, meetings, conferences, etc.
