At iO, you don't work on the same environment for years until you go blind. As a Mid-level AWS Engineer in our CloudOps team, you contribute simultaneously to projects for airports, healthcare platforms, financial service providers, and educational institutions. Every client brings their own challenges — and that is exactly what makes this work so appealing.

Our CloudOps team operates from Eindhoven and manages over 100 AWS accounts for internal IO campuses as well as external clients such as Brussels Airport, KNMI, the National Pharmacy, and the Efteling. You will work in a close-knit team of engineers, a security architect, and a manager, and regularly liaise with software engineers from other IO offices and developers on the client side.

Your work revolves around three types of tasks. The first is maintenance: keeping environments secure and up-to-date, rolling out updates, and building smart automation that eliminates the need for manual work. The second is designing and implementing new infrastructure. Together with an architect or developer, you brainstorm what a new project requires, develop it into a clear plan, and code it entirely in infrastructure as code. The third is client work: on projects for clients such as KNMI, you work intensively with their own teams for periods on major improvements, with your own daily stand-up and all the trimmings.
