Position Summary: The purpose of this position is to provide leadership, support and direction of hourly personnel for the operation of the Axle department so that quality, cost and production targets are met. Technical Skill Requirements: 1. BS Degree in manufacturing or a technical field or relevant equivalent experience with manufacturing 2. Additional training in management or leadership principles preferred 3. 5+ years of automotive manufacturing supervision 4. 2+ years previous experience leading and supervising other employees 5. Excellent time management skills, with a sense of urgency 6. Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills 7. Ability to stay calm in a fast-paced, stressful environment 8. Knowledge of quality principles and methods 9. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution and motivational skills Performance Skill Requirements: Leadership: Able to assume a role of authority, as necessary; advocates new ideas, even when risk is involved; sets an example for coworkers; delegates responsibility and empowers associates to make decisions; takes personal accountability for decisions. Problem Solving: Able to apply systems thinking to generate solutions; focuses on process rather than isolated events; obtains multiple assessments of a situation and identifies trouble spots; evaluates alternative solutions. Requirements Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Provide leadership and direction to the operation of the Axle production lines a. Establish and communicate production schedules b. Assign work to hourly workers and monitor their work activity c. Ensure workers are trained, cross-trained, and work in a safe manner d. Manage employee attendance and other HR/employee relations issues e. Problem solve production issues and determine countermeasures f. Troubleshoot equipment g. Ensure all policies and procedures are followed h. Perform quality audits to assure quality parts are being manufactured i. Manage scrap and seek continuous improvement j. Complete reports and data requirements for tracking performance k. Communicate with other departments and management, as necessary l.
