KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  • High School Diploma
  • DZ license is required, AZ license is an asset
  • Clean drivers abstract
  • 1-3 years of work experience in a related field is required
  • Experience with the function, repair and maintenance of vacuum and transfer pumps and industrial equipment is an asset
  • Experience with the safe handling of hazardous waste and chemicals and safety regulations
  • Ability to follow road regulations and rules / procedures at customer sites
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting
  • Good customer service skills with an ability to speak and write in English
  • Effective problem-solving skills
  • Current safety training (WHMIS, IEC Contractor Safety, Transportation of Dangerous Goods)
  • Basic mechanical knowledge
  • Basic knowledge of Internet Explorer, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Majority of the work is local and in an outside environment

Responsibilities
  • Liquid Vacuum Trucks – Drive and perform major duties independently including the liquid transfer of material from one vessel to another location
  • Turbo Vacuum Trucks – Drive and perform major duties with the assistance of a Utility Operator
  • Understand and complete required documentation such as waste manifests, bills of lading etc.
  • Responsible for obtaining and completing customer safe work permits and any additional required documents for hauling materials
  • Perform the set-up and take down of equipment required for the job
  • Perform the vacuuming of actual material from the job site
  • Advise the Utility Operator on the proper equipment needed on the truck to complete the job (i.e. hoses, fittings etc.)
  • Conduct pre-trip inspection of each vehicle (i.e. check fluid levels, oil, anti-freeze etc.)
  • Diagnose and report any vehicle mechanical issues to the mechanic
  • Conduct yard checks
  • Provide input and recommendations to management on processes and procedures
  • Perform general housekeeping on a daily basis
  • Other assignments as directed by the Supervisor / Foreman
