AZURE AVD SPECIALIST:

Procom is searching for an Azure AVD Specialist for a 6-month contract role. This position is a hybrid position with 3 days onsite at our client’s Edmonton office (preferred)

AZURE AVD SPECIALIST - JOB DESCRIPTION:

This project involves building, deploying, and supporting Azure Virtual Desktops (AVD) within client IT operations. The specialist will play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless operation and automation of cloud infrastructure services.

AZURE AVD SPECIALIST - MANDATORY SKILLS:

  • 2–4 years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or cloud infrastructure roles
  • Strong experience and knowledge with Windows Operating Systems
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Virtual Desktop Specialty (AZ-140)
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
  • Proficiency in configuring host pools, session hosts, application groups
  • Experience with provisioning, maintaining, and troubleshooting Windows 10/11 multi-session VMs
  • Familiarity with ITIL practices and ticketing systems like ServiceNow

AZURE AVD SPECIALIST – NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS:

  • Understanding of virtual networks, VPNs, NSGs, and hybrid connectivity
  • Familiarity with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and diagnostic settings for performance tuning
  • Knowledge of RBAC, MFA, endpoint protection, and data loss prevention in cloud environments
  • Basic PowerShell or Azure CLI skills for automating routine tasks and deployments
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
Responsibilities
  • Build and deploy Azure AVDs as requested through ServiceNow
  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for AVD users experiencing connectivity, performance, or access issues
  • Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks and roles for various automation tasks
  • Design, implement, and manage automation workflows to streamline operational processes
  • Diagnose and resolve problems related to virtual machines, session hosts, user profiles, and remote app delivery
  • Ensure scalability, efficiency, and resilience in automation solutions
  • Assist in configuring host pools, session hosts, and application groups
  • Maintain and update AVD images, ensuring compliance with security patches and software updates
  • Manage user access and permissions via Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure AD)
