The physical location for the candidate selected must reside within the contiguous United States.   What You Will Be Doing in the Role of Azure Cloud Engineer The Azure Cloud Engineer (Contract) is a hands-on, execution-focused role responsible for stabilizing, securing, and documenting Komen’s cloud and hybrid infrastructure, primarily within Microsoft Azure cloud platform.  This role is focused on remediation, standardization, and operational excellence within an existing environment. The engineer will play a critical role in strengthening security, improving reliability, and ensuring clear technical documentation for ongoing operations. What You Will Bring to the Table * Clean up and standardize Azure environments across subscriptions and resources * Review and remediate identity and access management (IAM) configurations * Strengthen access controls and enforce least-privilege principles * Assess and remediate firewall and cloud networking configurations (VNets, routing, NSGs) * Identify and resolve outstanding infrastructure and operational issues * Support hybrid environments, including Windows Server systems * Develop and maintain clear technical documentation including diagrams, runbooks, and SOPs * Collaborate with internal teams to ensure secure and stable system operations Top Priorities (What Success Looks Like) * A well-organized and standardized Azure environment * Secure, audit-ready access controls and permissions * Hardened and properly configured network and firewall infrastructure * Resolution of existing technical debt and operational gaps * Complete, accurate, and usable documentation for internal teams We Know You Will Have and Be Able To * 5–10 years of strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure cloud platform * Deep expertise in compute, networking, security, and identity/access management * Strong experience with Azure networking (VNets, routing, NSGs, firewalls) * Proven ability to troubleshoot and remediate complex, unstructured environments * Experience supporting hybrid infrastructure, including Windows Server * Solid understanding of security and compliance practices (access control, audits) * Scripting experience, particularly with PowerShell * Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly document and explain technical concepts * Ability to work independently with minimal direction in a remote environment We Would Love If You Also Have * Experience with Azure governance and security tools such as Microsoft Defender for Cloud security tool, Azure Policy, or Sentinel * Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools (Bicep, Terraform) * Experience working in regulated or nonprofit environments * Demonstrated ability to bring structure to ambiguous or under-documented systems So, what’s in it for you?
