JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Azure Cloud Specialist
Work Arrangement/Location: Based out of San Antonio office with work from home flexibility.
Summary: The Azure Cloud Specialist will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the bank’s cloud infrastructure and services on Microsoft Azure and other cloud providers. This role ensures the bank’s cloud environment is secure, scalable, and optimized for performance and efficiency. The Azure Cloud Specialist will collaborate with internal IT teams and external partners to support cloud-based initiatives while adhering to compliance, privacy, and security standards of the bank.

  • Design and deploy scalable, highly available, and secure cloud solutions on Microsoft Azure.
  • Manage and optimize Azure resources, including virtual machines, storage accounts, databases, and networking components.
  • Implement and maintain Azure Active Directory (AAD) and identity management solutions.
  • Monitor cloud environments for performance, availability, costs, and security, using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and other tools.
  • Collaborate with the IT security team to ensure the implementation of security best practices and compliance standards (e.g., data encryption, access control, Azure Security Center).
  • Automate routine tasks and deployments using tools such as Azure Automation, PowerShell, Python, and Terraform.
  • Assist in cloud migration projects, including assessment, planning, and execution of workloads moving to Azure.
  • Support the design and implementation of backup and disaster recovery solutions in Azure. Document cloud architecture, configurations, and procedures for internal knowledge sharing and audit purposes.
  • Provide tier 2 and tier 3 support for cloud-related incidents and service requests.
  • Work with internal teams and managed service providers to troubleshoot and resolve complex cloud issues.
  • General Windows administration and troubleshooting.
  • Assist in directing, reviewing, and supervising the work and projects delivered by our managed service provider.
  • Stay current with the latest Azure technologies and recommend improvements to enhance cloud capabilities.
  • Support IT leadership in developing cloud strategies aligned with the organization’s goals.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required/Knowledge Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure services, including Compute, Networking, Storage, Exchange/Teams administration, Azure Active Directory, InTune, and SharePoint administration. Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using ARM templates, Terraform, CloudFormation, or Bicep.
  • Familiarity with cloud networking concepts, such as VPN, VNet, load balancing, and firewalls, experience with CloudFlare is a plus.
  • Understanding of cloud security principles, including identity management, role-based access control (RBAC), and Azure Policy.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Python, or similar languages.
  • Experience with monitoring and optimization tools in Azure.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex cloud issues effectively.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills.

Desired Experience:

  • Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps.
  • Azure certification (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect).
  • Knowledge of hybrid cloud solutions and integrations with on-premises environments.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with IT service management frameworks like ITIL and NIST.
  • Familiarity with Linux administration
