Remove and replace sheet metal, glass and cosmetic parts as necessary. Straighten/repair damaged panels and parts as necessary. Bench vehicles and conduct pulls on vehicles as necessary. Measure and document vehicle dimensions when required. Restore and/or maintain vehicle corrosion protection (i.e.: undercoating, cavity wax). Assist with smooth flow of work through the shop. Maintain work area in clean and safe condition. Keep Estimator/Writer and Production Manager aware of work status on all jobs. Alert the Estimator/Writer and Production manager to any unusual problems or additional work needed on a vehicle. Work with the Parts Department Associate to ensure correct, usable parts have been ordered and delivered. Return all unused to the Parts Department. Provide own tools (must be compatible with shop “Vacuum” system). Qualifications: Ability to read and comprehend instructions and estimate information. Working knowledge of all aspects of repairing damaged vehicle body parts, unibody vehicles and body over frame vehicles. Must have a valid driver’s license. Ability to use hand and power tools and other machinery in a safe manner. Working Conditions: This is a physically demanding position. Will stand six to eight hours per shift. Will lift parts weighing up to 70 pounds. Will use hand and power tools. Will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes, paint and other hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
Responsibilities
The technician is responsible for making proper repairs to vehicles according to company guidelines and restoring them to manufacturer's specifications. This includes removing and replacing parts, conducting repairs, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
