Description

Position Summary

We seek a talented Data/Software Engineer passionate about advancing drug discovery through cutting-edge technology and open science collaboration to join our team at the Structural Genomics Consortium (SGC) in order to develop a cloud-based platform that will revolutionize the drug discovery process. As a Data/Software Engineer at SGC, you will be at the forefront of developing a cloud-based platform called AIRCHECK (Artificial Intelligence-Ready CHEmiCal Knowledge base). This platform will facilitate the global sharing of chemical screening data following FAIR and Open science principles. The data will be highly structured and well-annotated, optimizing the development and application of machine learning and artificial intelligence approaches in drug discovery.

Duties

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design, implement, and maintain the AIRCHECK cloud-based database and data portal.
  • Develop data pipelines and storage solutions to ensure efficient data collection, curation, and accessibility for global scientific communities.
  • Integrate advanced data analytics and AI capabilities into the platform to facilitate the prediction of drug-like molecules for pre-defined protein targets.
  • Ensure data security, privacy, and compliance with relevant regulations and best practices.
  • Continuously monitor and optimize platform performance and scalability to handle massive datasets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in software development or a related field required
  • Proven experience in data engineering and cloud-based application design
  • Strong proficiency in Python, JavaScript or TypeScript
  • Experience building production web applications with a modern React framework (Next.js, Remix, etc.)
  • Solid backend development experience with Express.js
  • Comfortable owning a website end to end — frontend, backend, and the glue between them
  • CI/CD experience, ideally Jenkins
  • Docker and Kubernetes
  • Databricks, PySpark
  • Experience designing or building ETL pipelines
  • Familiarity with AI/ML tools for data analysis or prediction
  • Cloud platform experience — GCP or Azure; AWS is a plus
  • Big data storage (S3, Azure Data Lake) and analytics services (BigQuery, Redshift)
