Description

About the job

Software Architect (M/F) | Luxembourg | 100% on-site

Working French required. Professional English.

The contextOur client is a privately held industrial company in Luxembourg, a long-established leader in its market, whose business runs on physical product flows across production, logistics, and distribution. Its technology has been built in-house over decades and is treated as a strategic asset, under one guiding principle: full control over the systems the business depends on.The architect who built this ecosystem is preparing his succession. This is a planned, structured handover: the incoming Software Architect will work directly alongside him, absorb the architecture, the data, and the business logic, and progressively take on the role of technical authority for the company. The company has decided to renew its technology stack and rebuild a substantial part of its application landscape, and the new architect will take part in selecting the future technologies. One thing to understand before applying: the existing system is large, proprietary, and business-critical. Mastering it in depth is the prerequisite to any redesign. This is not a blank-page project.

The profile

  • Experience in industrial environments is central to this role: production sites, logistics, physical product flows, distribution. We are looking for an architect who genuinely understands how industrial operations work and how technology supports them, and this exposure will be a decisive factor in the selection.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals: software architecture, data modeling, modular design, distributed systems. Breadth and depth of understanding over specialization in a single technology.
  • 5+ years designing, developing, and deploying large-scale enterprise systems.
  • A pragmatic approach to technology: robustness and business fit over trends.
  • Working French required; a solid working level with a clear willingness to progress is welcome, as the role increasingly involves direct interaction with management. Professional English.
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is a plus.
  • Full on-site presence in Luxembourg.

The role

  • An initial phase focused on understanding the business: databases, data flows, business objects, and how the application modules are organized.
  • Design of the target architecture: application interaction, data models, modularization, and distribution of computation loads.
  • Active participation in the technology selection for the stack renewal.
  • Technical governance: standards, conventions, architectural reviews, and decision-making in support of the development teams.
  • Close collaboration with business and management.

The offer

  • A structured succession plan with direct mentoring from the current architect.
  • Genuine influence over the future technology stack and the redesign of core applications.
  • A stable, financially solid, family-owned employer with a long-term vision.
  • A competitive compensation package in line with the Luxembourg market.
