Job Description As a Backend Engineer, you’ll join a growing global team at Wix, shaping the future of eCommerce. You’ll develop and maintain the core selling and order management capabilities for all Wix verticals. Working in a highly distributed, cutting-edge environment, you’ll play a central role in building scalable, resilient systems that handle millions of requests per minute. In your day-to-day, you will: • Build and maintain backend systems to process 1.5 million API requests and 400,000 events per minute • Design, implement, and optimize scalable and resilient systems with an API-first approach • Solve high-scale technical challenges in a distributed microservices environment (~100 microservices) • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and functionality across the platform • Lead technical initiatives to improve system performance, reliability, and scalability • Mentor and guide junior engineers to help them reach their full potential Strong communication skills in both Hebrew and English are required. This position is primarily an in-person role, and candidates should be prepared to come to our Tel Aviv office 4 days a week, with 1 day working from home. Qualifications • 4+ years of experience as a backend engineer • In-depth understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and SOLID principles • Background in design, with a passion for Test-Driven Development (TDD) methodology • Knowledge and interest in microservice architectures • Strong communication skills in both Hebrew and English • Team player committed to the success of the team Additional Information We are Wix's Backend Engineering Guild. These tools streamline the development process and reduce cognitive load, allowing Wix Engineers to concentrate on their domain, architecture, and business logic. To handle high-scale traffic (over 500 billion HTTP requests per day) and 500+ daily deployments, our team of 500 Backend Engineers runs production across 19 distributed data centers and cloud vendors worldwide.
