Embark Studios is seeking a Backend Engineer (Go) to build the foundation for data-driven player experiences, including leaderboards, character progression, global events, and more. You’ll be responsible for creating a framework that enables game teams to deliver data to persistent storage and serve it to support the game. You’ll also work on data applications that use and expose this data to players. Key responsibilities include designing and maintaining a player state persistence framework, designing and maintaining Spanner tables, building data-driven applications, working closely with game teams, and optimizing the developer experience. Ideal candidates will have a creative and curious mind, strong understanding of OLTP storage systems (Spanner), experience with distributed systems, the ability to drive architectural decisions, self-motivation, detail-orientation, and experience with Go (or other programming languages).
