Lyten Poland is currently seeking a Backend Engineer to support the development of our Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) cloud platform. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable backend services and cloud infrastructure that connect our battery systems to the cloud. This position combines hands-on backend engineering with cloud infrastructure development. You will play a key role in enabling reliable data ingestion, processing, and analytics for IoT-enabled energy storage solutions, working closely with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced and innovative environment. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and maintain scalable backend services supporting ESS cloud platform Develop and manage AWS cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) Build and optimize data pipelines for IoT telemetry ingestion, streaming, and storage (e.g., Kinesis, S3, Lambda) Ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of distributed cloud systems Collaborate with Embedded, TechOps, and Data teams to integrate edge devices with cloud and data platforms Deploy, configure, and maintain Databricks workspaces, clusters, and data processing jobs Implement CI/CD pipelines and automation for infrastructure and backend services Apply cloud security best practices, including IAM, VPC design, encryption, and audit logging Monitor system performance, troubleshoot production issues, and optimize system efficiency Contribute to architecture decisions and continuously improve platform scalability and cost-efficiency What you bring Educational background and previous experience required for the role. ≥ 3 years with Terraform (modules, workspaces, CI/CD integration). Extensive experience building distributed cloud platforms. Proficiency in Python, Bash, and Go for automation and tooling. Familiarity with Spark workloads and cluster provisioning, in addition to working with SQL/ETL/ELT workflows Experience with GitLab/GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar pipelines. A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering (B.Sc. or M.Sc.), or another related field. Specific skills Deep hands‑on experience with core AWS services (EC2, VPC, RDS, S3, IAM, Lambda, Kinesis). Proven work on ingesting and processing device telemetry at scale. Understanding of cloud security best practices (least privilege, encryption, audit logging). Ability to work cross‑functionally with Embedded firmware engineers, TechOps teams, and Data scientists/engineers.
