Your role in one sentence

You will develop and maintain the backend services of our Python-based IoT platform, help design database schemas and quality standards, and work closely with the product teams.

Your role with us

You will be responsible for the services and interfaces of our platform: from clean schema design in PostgreSQL and TimescaleDB to efficient API logic with Python and FastAPI, all the way to testing, observability, and CI/CD. You will take a holistic approach to architecture, actively shape technical changes, and develop into a reliable sparring partner within the team. 

Together with Embedded Systems, Customer Excellence, and Analytics, you will translate business and technical requirements into reliable, well-tested services. With automated tests, high code quality, comprehensible documentation, and clear guardrails, you will ensure that new features are deployed safely and reliably to production.

Your tasks

• Development, maintenance and optimization of backend services, REST APIs and automations based on Python.
• Design and maintenance of data models in PostgreSQL and TimescaleDB - including queries, indexes and migrations.
• Participation in architectural decisions regarding API structure, service layers and interfaces, as well as comprehensible documentation of the decisions.
• Further development of MQTT-based communication between gateways and backend, as well as the associated message processing.
• Ensuring and further developing quality standards and production stability
• Close collaboration with embedded systems, analytics and other product roles, as well as support for requirements up to stable handover into production.

This is what you bring with you

• Excellent Python practice for backend development, data processing, and API logic.
• Expertise in automated testing and the development of quality standards, as well as a structured, reproducible way of working with tickets and agile processes with a focus on security and clean code.
• Experience with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL/TimescaleDB (schema design, indexing, migrations).
• Safe handling of REST interfaces and clean, versioned documentation.
• Familiarity with modern backend frameworks (e.g., FastAPI).
• Experience with Git, GitLab, CI/CD and containerized development or production environments, especially Docker.
• Willingness to familiarize yourself with new topics, take on responsibility and actively participate in shaping technical changes in exchange with other team roles.
