Description
About the role We are looking for a Backend Infrastructure Engineer to join us on our mission to build the world's first autonomous factory for carbon fiber manufacturing. Are you excited about designing the backend infrastructure that powers an entirely new production system for carbon fiber parts? Are you interested in working in a highly collaborative team within a fast-growing deep-tech company? Are you looking to spend your time and motivation on making a difference in the climate emergency? Then you will love Holy. What you will do Be part of a motivated engineering team to develop Holy's revolutionary manufacturing technology. Design and build our backend services with a strong focus on distributed, multi service architecture, deciding how services are split, how they communicate, and how data flows between them. Design and implement the data pipeline that connects our manufacturing machines and sensors to our core database, including data ingestion, reliability, and graceful handling of failures. Own the caching and messaging layer of our backend, for example Redis or Celery, to support performance and communication between services. Make architecture trade off decisions such as sync versus async or consistency versus performance, and clearly explain your reasoning to the team. Work closely with the wider engineering team to integrate backend systems with front end and product features. Use the best equipment in our state of the art workshop. Follow your intellectual curiosity and learn about new markets and technologies together with your co-workers. Create high tech solutions within exciting customer projects. What we are looking for You have a passion for coding and hands-on experience designing and building backend systems with multiple interconnected services. have solid working experience solving similar problems, ideally at a startup or scale up in B2B SaaS or consumer apps. Your primary strength is backend architecture. You know how to design systems with proper service boundaries, caching and messaging layers, and reliable data flow, not just implement individual API endpoints. You have hands-on experience with tools such as Redis, Celery, PostgreSQL, or TimescaleDB. The exact tools are flexible, what matters most is your underlying design thinking. You are passionate about working on problems that have not been solved before and you appreciate an agile working environment. You like to build projects from a blank page and taking ownership comes naturally to you. You like collaborating with others to develop our product and can communicate with non software experts about software topics. You have an autonomous working attitude and the ability to simply get started, especially when it comes to architecture decisions where you will often be the primary owner. PLUS: You have experience with cloud services such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, and with DevOps tooling like CI/CD, monitoring, or deployment automation. PLUS: You have front end or full stack experience and enjoy working across the whole stack. You do not tick all the boxes? We are looking for driven candidates who most importantly add to our culture, and don't just blend in. Submit an Unsolicited Application if you think that you are a fit. What we care about Honesty: Being authentic and honest creates trust toward colleagues, customers, and business partners. Optimism: Positivity is the fuel for all good decisions. Smile and spread positivity in the workplace. Do not take yourself too seriously and treat others with respect. Focus: Always separate unimportant from important. Focus on the impactful actions that lead to impactful results. Courage: Courage is the source of any big success. Stand up for your ideas, no matter how bold. Sustainability: Do it nice or do it twice. Consider the future consequences of your actions holistically. We win and fail together: Fail early, fail often, fail forward. Failure is where the lessons are. We overcome challenges as a team. What we offer Impact: Work on a meaningful solution in the fight against climate change with us. Growth: Learn from experienced colleagues, grow your knowledge, and expand your skills within your field or by entering new ones. Ownership: Take ownership and meaningfully shape an early-stage company. Competitive compensation: We believe in rewarding good work. Equity: We want you to become a part of us. Additional perks: We cover 50% of your costs for fitness (Wellpass), language courses, and the German public transport ticket. Pick your poison: Use the technical equipment of your choice including a meaningful home office set-up. Fun place to work: Enjoying work is crucial for us. About us Holy Technologies pioneers autonomous composite manufacturing to help manufacturers build radically better lightweight components. We are a European contract manufacturer specialized in ultralight load-bearing composite parts for automotive, aerospace, robotics and industrial manufacturing. Our proprietary Infinite Fiber Placement (IFP) technology enables cost-competitive production at mid-to-high volumes, delivering aramid and carbon fiber components that are fast to produce, scalable, and fully recyclable. IFP places continuous dry fibers along load-optimized trajectories calculated by proprietary software. This process delivers parts at minimum weight with enhanced mechanical performance. From prototypes to series production, we help teams move from CAD to finished parts in weeks instead of months, allowing our customers to innovate faster and stay ahead of competition.
Responsibilities
Design and build backend services and distributed architectures to power an autonomous carbon fiber manufacturing system. Implement reliable data pipelines connecting manufacturing machines and sensors to core databases while managing caching and messaging layers.
