Description
This position is responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operations of WSI’s baggage operations. You’ll actively oversee and monitor the planning and allocation of baggage system resources and proactively manage the flow of baggage within the baggage handling systems. The position will liaise with and monitor the performance of the Baggage Service Provider (BSP), monitor and adjust the allocation of make-up resources to ensure that baggage operations do not impact on-time departure of aircraft. Additionally, the position will monitor the supply of Unit Load Device (ULD) containers to the baggage system via the baggage contractor, to ensure that the required supply is available at the make-up interface and that completed loads are removed in a timely manner to enable efficient operations. The role will initially be performed within regular business hours to support the development of processes and procedures. It will then transition to a shift-based position that supports our operational trials and testing prior to the commencement of live operations, when the role will require permanent shift work. Key responsibilities: Liaise with airlines and the Baggage Handling System contractor to coordinate plans for daily and seasonal flight schedules within the baggage system High Level Controller. Actively monitor assembly of baggage batches and allocation to designated loading resources. Actively monitor the status of aircraft expected to be arriving at the gates to predict when high inbound volumes of baggage will be in the baggage handling system. Coordinate with the (BSP) to ensure adequate staffing of essential resources, encompassing inbound/outbound activities of standard and oversize baggage with particular focus on speed loaders and baggage chutes allocations Monitor storage capacity and clearance of the outbound oversize baggage process Establish effective communication with airlines and Ground Handling Agents regarding flight preparations, resource allocation and the transfer of baggage. Monitor the performance of the BSP in unloading incoming baggage, ensuring proper segregation between international and domestic baggage. Liaise with the BHS contractor surrounding coordination of planned maintenance and addressing system malfunctions. Coordinate with the WSA Airport Operations Coordination Centre (AOCC) to manage the contingency arrangements for any baggage system issues, oversee the clearance of arrivals carousels and support broader airport operations. Assist in the coordination of resources to respond to system outages and associated business continuity requirements. Oversee allocation and utilisation of the Baggage Reconciliation System. Monitor compliance with Airport Standards and Rules (ASR) and government agency regulations and support the assurance program. About You 3-5 years previous experience in airport baggage systems operations is preferred. Alternatively, warehouse distribution systems coordination or parcel freight sortation systems control.
