VeiraMal Consulting is seeking an experienced Baker to join our clients’ restaurant in Airport West. Our client, Bakers Delight Airport West is looking for an enthusiastic individual who can work well in a team, with strong communication skills.

Objective of The Position: **

  • To assist in the preparation and production of high-quality baked goods, including breads, pastries, and desserts.
  • To contribute to a positive and satisfying customer experience by ensuring freshness, consistency, and presentation of all bakery products.

Qualifications/experience: **

  • Experience in baking a variety of goods such as breads, pastries, cakes, and other baked products, preferably in a commercial or high-volume setting.
  • Formal qualifications in Baking, Patisserie, or Commercial Cookery (Certificate III or higher preferred).
  • Current Food Safety and Hygiene Certificate for Food Handlers.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment.

Responsible for: Maintaining efficient production, quality, and timely delivery of baked goods and related bakery operations.
Accountable to: Manager /Owner
Performance appraisal: Three months after appointment, then at least annually and/or when required.

JOB DESCRIPTIONS:

  • Preparing and baking a variety of breads, rolls, cakes, and sweet treats fresh each day
  • Measuring and combining ingredients with precision, following recipes or creating your own
  • Operating mixers, ovens, and other bakery equipment confidently and safely
  • Decorating cakes and desserts with icing, cream, and custom designs
  • Creating special-order items like birthday cakes or themed pastries based on customer requests
  • Preparing garnishes and finishing touches that make our baked goods stand out
  • Keeping track of inventory and helping place orders when supplies are running low
  • Staying on top of product rotation and minimizing waste wherever possible
  • Helping us brainstorm new menu ideas, including options for dietary needs (vegan, gluten-free, etc.
  • Maintaining a clean and organised workspace — including daily cleaning of all baking equipment and tools
  • Ensuring our display and storage areas are well-stocked and products are kept fresh

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Have necessary qualifications (high school diploma or equivalent)
  • Experience as a working Baker
  • Ability to use hand and appliances and lift heavy items for prolongs amounts of time in a hot and hectic atmosphere.
  • Demonstrate understanding of and ability to operate basic food service equipment.
  • Understanding of food safety practices
  • Self-motivated and adaptable with a high level of energy with multi-tasking
  • Strong communication skills ability to manage time and resource, and general planning
  • Close attention to the details, especially when inspecting material and products for quality
  • Willingness to solve problems, manage schedules, execute orders and create delicious baked items on your own or with other team members
