        Baker (Diavik) - $66,762.50 - $76,762.50/year   Medical benefits and RSP Matching 2x2 rotation  Point of pickup is within the Northwest Territories and Edmonton   Our Company:  100% owned by the Yellowknives Dene First Nation, Bouwa Whee Catering is a division of the Det’on Cho Hospitality Group, providing top-tier, professional camp catering services to Canada’s northern mines. We promote a positive work-place culture focused on growth, teamwork and inclusivity and are seeking a Baker position at Diavik Diamond Mine site.   The Position:  Reporting to the Chef at the Diavik Diamond Mine, the Baker is a Term position. Under the supervision and direction of the Chef, the Baker prepares all pastry, bread, and dessert products based on the requirements of the day-to-day menu, and accommodates special client requests from time to time and oversees the night shift team.   Qualifications: Our ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications: * 3 – 5 years’ experience as a Pastry Chef or as a Bakery Manager. * Ability to provide and maintain supervision over bread & pastry production for up to 300 people. * Must have current certificates for Food safe, Standard First Aid, WHMIS, and keep them updated as needed. * Must have experience designing, implementing and organizing bakery menus, and developing standardized recipes in industrial, hotel, and institutional formats. * Must have a complete understanding of inventory control and cost control systems. * Safety system and loss prevention experience an asset. * Must be interested in conducting apprenticeship * Experience in leadership   Responsibilities: The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for: * menu development * overseeing a team through daily production * the training of junior staff members * assisting with cleaning duties * ensuring that Food Safe practices are strictly adhered to at all times    Priority Hiring Statement: We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive workplace where all employees feel valued and supported.
