Description
Description ABOUT OUR BAKERY Mack's Bingo Bakery is an approachable, from-scratch bakery rooted in one simple belief: delicious comes first. Our focus is on sweet and savory treats made with care and seasonal intention. Our bakery serves as a learning opportunity for our Junior Crew (local Appalachian youth participating in our program) to engage with all aspects of baking and production, providing a well-rounded experience in the culinary and hospitality industry. Youth have opportunities to work in the bakery preparing and baking, as well as supporting roles across our broader operation including the market, kitchen, and interactions with our guests. As a social enterprise, Mack's Bingo Bakery provides a meaningful production environment for local youth to complement the opportunities offered in our farm, market, glass studio, and restaurant. It also provides the community with thoughtfully made, fresh-baked goods rooted in Appalachian tradition and the seasons we live in. OVERVIEW We're looking for a skilled, passionate baker to help maintain the energy of Mack's Bingo Bakery — someone who sees baking as both craft and story, and who leads with quality, consistency, approachability, and a fresh perspective. This role is central to our bakery operation. You'll work closely with our Bakery Manager and Executive Chef to build and execute a program anchored in what's delicious, what's meaningful, and what our guests keep coming back for — from cookies and seasonal sweets to savory treats and the occasional loaf. You bring technique, consistency, and genuine care to every item that leaves the bakery. Beyond the baking itself, this role carries a mentorship dimension. You'll work alongside Junior Crew and apprentices, helping to build a bakery culture grounded in learning, high standards, and genuine pride in the craft. You set the tone — in your method, your station, and the way you show up every day. If you're a baker who wants their work to mean something beyond the oven — and who is energized by the idea of feeding a community while growing the next generation of culinary talent — this is exactly the right bakery for you. This position reports to the Bakery Manager. MUST-HAVES Curiosity and Learning Mindset: You approach your work with genuine eagerness to learn and grow. You are adaptable, open to change, and actively engaged in a consistent feedback loop — both giving and receiving feedback with care and intention. You see every challenge as an opportunity to get better and bring that energy to your team. High Volume, High Efficiency: You stay organized and thrive in a dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities without sacrificing quality. You keep things moving, embrace new projects, and aren't afraid to experiment — even when the workload is heavy. Attention to detail: You don’t just notice what’s off—you fix it. You set high standards and hold yourself and your team accountable, creating a culture where small details matter Love for Food and Craft: You believe that delicious comes first — always. You take pride in scratch baking, trust quality ingredients, and bring intention to every item you make. You find meaning in food that is rooted in place, shaped by the people around you, and approachable enough to make guests feel at home. Your passion for the craft shows up in your consistency, your curiosity, and your willingness to let many voices — including the youth you work alongside — shape what comes out of the oven. Commitment to Hospitality: Deliver exceptional experience for our guests, vendors and distributors, and staff. Additional responsibilities will be detailed in the interview and full job description. KEY QUALIFICATIONS Must have a valid driver’s license Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and ability to stand for long periods of time Willingness and ability to commute to Wardensville, WV if necessary.
