JOB OVERVIEW

Beryl, the gluten-free coffee and cake trailer will soon be moving to our perm location on the forecourt of Reading Station (near the Three Guineas), which means we’ll need to grow our small team, and crucially, are looking for a baker to work alongside Naomi to help bake, from scratch all the gluten-free sweet and savoury things.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience in food production, food preparation, or a similar culinary role.
  • Strong cooking skills with an emphasis on baking preferred.
  • Previous kitchen or restaurant experience is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of food safety practices and regulations is essential.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • A passion for culinary arts and a commitment to delivering high-quality producst including pre-orders of celebration cakes (see webite for style)
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also demonstrating initiative when required.

Responsibilities

BAKER - PART-TIME + FULL TIME ROLES CONSIDERED / BASED IN WEST READING

Specifically, we are looking for a baker who loves early mornings, who takes pride in a job well done and with attention to detail, ensuring consistent results driven by taking care to follow recipes and methods meticulously.
Previous baking experience in a commercial setting preferable.

AVAILABILITY – FOR ROLES TO START IN SEPTEMBER – DATE TBC

Applicants must be avail to work early starts and travel to West Reading and be comfortable baking in ‘home from home’ rather than a ‘commercial’ kitchen.

ABOUT THE ROLE

It’s a hands-on position with repetition (as the range is fairly small, and needs to be topped up regularly) as well as being able to make cake orders (list is on the website). The ideal candidate understands and delivers on the mission of making gluten-free food taste amazing and be incredibly ‘allergy aware’. The ideal candidate will be productive and above all, reliable.

  • Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, assisting with ordering as needed.
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and cleaned after use.
