Position Summary - $19 per hour to $21 per hour:
We are looking for a skilled and creative baker who strives to provide excellent baked items and service in an efficient, professional manner. Our Baker will prepare different types of bread and a wide range of pastries, like cookies, cakes, and pies. Our Baker should be organized, decisive, attentive, and possess a strong understanding of baking techniques. Our bakers must be about baking and interested in opportunities to grow within the company. Baker responsibilities include opening the bakery early in the morning, mixing dough, preparing fillings, and glazing pastries. To be successful in this role, you should have work experience as a Baker and be able to decorate cakes using creative techniques. Ultimately, you will make sure we offer fresh and delicious goods to our customers daily. The baker will design, execute, and improve recipes, perform quality checks on ingredients and finished products, use icing, glazes, fillings, and decorations to enhance item presentation, and process orders from customers. The primary responsibility of the baker is to maintain quality control to ensure all products are served according to procedures and to the guests’ satisfaction. This position reports to the Director of Pastry Operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1 years experience as a Baker, Pastry Chef or similar role
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in oral and written form.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Food handlers card (Health card) and any other certification or license, as required by law or policy.
- Must have a degree in baking/pastry or past experience in baking.
- Familiarity with all professional kitchen equipment, including mixers, blenders and dough sheeters
- Understanding of food safety practices
- Experience with cake decoration techniques
- Excellent time-management skills
- Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment
- Team spirit, with a customer-focused attitude
- Certification from a culinary school is a plus
- Flexibility to work in early morning shifts Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this job.
- Able to work a flexible schedule.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This role may require:
- Heat Tolerance: Working in a kitchen often involves working in high heat environments. This is particularly true when working with ovens, grills, or stoves. A potential employee should be able to withstand this heat for extended periods of time.
- Manual Dexterity: Working with hot cooking utensils and equipment requires good hand-eye coordination and control to avoid accidents and burns.
- Safety Knowledge: Understanding and adhering to safety procedures related to heat and fire in the kitchen is crucial to avoid accidents. This might include knowing how to handle flammable oils, what to do in case of a grease fire, and how to properly use heat-related kitchen equipment.
- Stamina: Kitchen work often requires long hours standing Bending, pushing, pulling, extensive walking and moving in a hot environment. Potential employees should have the physical stamina to handle these conditions.
- Use of Protective Gear: Employees should be able to properly use heat-protective gear like oven mitts, aprons, and chef coats.
- Lifting Ability: Often, working in a kitchen requires lifting hot and heavy pots or trays. The ability to safely lift and handle these items is important. Lifting up to 50 pounds
- Temperature Sensitivity: An employee should have the ability to accurately gauge and adjust cooking temperatures, and to work with both hot and cold food items.
- Note: This role may require the use of uniforms and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
