Gluten Free 4 U currently has full-time positions available for fully qualified Bakers / Pastrycooks to join our team
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
· Preference is to hold relevant Baker / Pastrycook qualification
· At least 1 year of relevant work experience required for this role
· Excellent communication and organisation skills and show initiative
· Great attention to detail
· Overall good sense of flavours
· Motivated to work autonomously
· Must have a friendly disposition and a co-operative attitude as well as a passion and
· enthusiasm for your work
· Demonstrated knowledge of Food Safety, OH&S and best practice approaches to preventing injury
· The ability to work to deadlines and remain focused under pressure
About the role – Baker
Duties for the Baker role will include the following:
· Check production schedule to determine variety and quantity of goods to manufacture and produce in all departments
· Ensure hygienic workstations and equipment
· Kneading/creating/mixing dough
· Operate machines and bake items (ensuring adherence to recipes and correct temperatures)
· Observe products while cooking and adjust controls.
· Test baked items by tasting, piercing or smelling them.
· Ensuring all baked goods are completed to a predetermined schedule.
· Maintain a consistent high level of quality in products
· Complete weekly ordering of raw ingredients and engage with suppliers
· Train junior staff as required
· Implement and maintain health and safety regulations
· Responsible for new product development
· Ensure product freshness and food safety.
About the role – Pastrycook
Duties for the Pastrycook role will include the following:
· Daily preparation of all cakes and desserts.
· Check production schedule to determine variety and quantity of goods to bake.
· Check the quality of raw materials.
· Weigh and measure ingredients using scales, measuring cups or spoons.
· Mix ingredients to form dough or batter using mixing machines.
· Roll and shape dough using rolling pins.
· Cut dough in uniform portions with knife, divider or cutters.
· Decorate and articulate the finishing of cakes
· Place dough in pans, moulds or on trays and bake in oven.
· Observe products while cooking and adjust controls.
· Test baked items by tasting, piercing or smelling them.
· Manage spoilage, turnovers and inventory of stocks and goods.
· Checking that equipment meets health and safety regulations
· Operate slicing and wrapping machines
· Train junior staff as required
· Implement and maintain health and safety regulations
· Responsible for new product development
· Ensure product freshness and food safety.
· Must hold relevant Baker / Pastrycook qualification
