The Mill cafe in Lurgan is seeking a passionate and skilled Baker to join our team.
We have long been a bagel and brunch café and would like to start baking our own bagels in-house along with other products such as sourdough, croissants, soda bread and other sweet treats etc.
We acknowledge that bagels are a niche bakery item and applicants may not have experience baking them in a commercial setting but other skills will certainly be transferrable and applicable.

Duties would include:

  • Prepare and bake a variety of breads, pastries, cakes, and other baked goods according to new and existing recipes.
  • Measure and mix ingredients accurately to ensure consistent quality in all products.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, adhering to food safety regulations.
  • Monitor baking times and temperatures to achieve optimal results for all items.
  • Assist in the development of new recipes and menu items to enhance our offerings.
  • Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient food production and service.
  • Conduct regular inventory checks of baking supplies and report any shortages or needs for replenishment.

SKILLS

  • Proven experience in a bakery or kitchen environment, preferably within a restaurant or bakery setting.
  • Immaculate timekeeping skills
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary practices.
  • Familiarity with food safety standards and regulations.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • A passion for baking and creativity in developing new recipes is highly desirable.
  • Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues.
If you have a love for baking and are eager to be part of a new venture, please apply and help propel The Mill to the next level.
