We are seeking an experienced team leader and customer-focused Venue Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our vibrant brand new bakery cafe. You will be responsible for managing front-of-house, delivering exceptional customer service, overseeing inventory and ordering, and ensuring a warm and welcoming environment for our guests. This role requires hands-on leadership, a passion for hospitality, and an eye for operational detail.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations Management
- Oversee all daily operations of the bakery cafe, ensuring smooth service from open to close.
- Ensure food quality, presentation, and cleanliness meet brand standards at all times.
- Manage and optimise staffing levels based on sales and traffic patterns.
- Open and/or close the cafe, ensuring procedures are followed correctly.
Team Leadership
- Lead, train, and motivate front-of-house (baristas, servers).
- Create a positive, inclusive workplace culture focused on teamwork and service excellence.
- Schedule staff, manage time-off requests, and ensure proper coverage at all times.
Customer Experience
- Ensure every guest receives friendly, prompt, and attentive service.
- Handle customer feedback or complaints professionally and proactively.
- Support a cafe environment that feels warm, community-oriented, and inviting.
Inventory & Ordering
- Monitor inventory of food, beverages, and supplies; manage ordering and receiving.
- Work with bakers and kitchen staff to ensure accurate forecasting and minimal waste.
- Manage vendor relationships and source ingredients as needed.
Financial Responsibilities
- Track daily sales, labor costs, and other key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Assist in budget planning and cost control efforts.
- Manage POS systems and reconcile cash and card transactions daily.
Health & Safety Compliance
- Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards.
- Maintain health inspection readiness at all times.
- Implement and maintain cleaning and maintenance schedules.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in hospitality or cafe/restaurant management.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
- Knowledge of food service regulations and health/safety standards.
- Experience with inventory management and basic budgeting.
- Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a bakery cafe or fast-casual dining environment.
- Barista knowledge and/or familiarity with bakery operations.
- POS and scheduling software experience (e.g., Square, Deputy).
