We’re seeking an experienced and visionary Retail Operations Manager to lead all aspects of customer service, team performance, stock and systems management, and retail strategy at our bustling, highly regarded artisan bakery and café in inner-city Perth.

About the Role
You will be responsible for overseeing all front-of-house operations, driving retail performance, and leading a skilled team in delivering warm, efficient, high-level service. This role combines strategic planning, operational execution, and hands-on leadership, with a focus on excellence in every detail—from customer experience to workflow, sales growth, and team culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of up to 15 staff, including baristas, supervisors, and retail staff, across a 7-day operation
  • Drive retail strategy, including rostering, cost controls, stock management, upselling, and promotional activity
  • Implement and oversee systems to ensure smooth and efficient daily operations
  • Set and track KPIs for sales, labour, customer satisfaction, and team performance
  • Collaborate with leadership on product planning, visual merchandising, and marketing initiatives
  • Develop staff through structured performance reviews, coaching, and professional development
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and food service regulations

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in multi-site hospitality management (bakery, café, or retail food environments)
  • Proven ability to scale systems and lead large, diverse teams in fast-paced, high-volume settings
  • Demonstrated experience in labour and stock cost control, workflow optimisation, and retail performance metrics
  • Background in artisan food or specialty coffee environments preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution, and leadership skills
  • Tech-savvy with experience using POS, workforce management, and inventory systems (e.g., Square, Deputy, Xero)
  • A degree in business, hospitality management, or related field (preferred)
  • Barista experience and knowledge of third wave coffee practices
  • Food Safety Supervisor certification
