Status: Level II, Support Staff, Supervised by Bakery Manager Responsibilities: CUSTOMER SERVICE Assist customers with product questions in a prompt, and courteous manner, referring them to other staff when necessary. Ability to work independently while also working as part of a team to develop a hospitable department space that feels welcoming to all. Participate in customer service trainings, all-staff meetings, department meetings, and OBM Huddles to stay informed. Knowledgeable about all Bakery products. Help customers place special orders. PRODUCTION BAKING Prepare bakery offerings based on daily productions lists to provide both variety and consistency Assist in researching and developing new recipes. • Prepare breads and pastries according to established recipes. • Clean and maintain work areas, utensils, and equipment. • Bring day-to-day problems and needs concerning equipment and food supplies to the management team. • Complete production sheets and other records as required. • May be required to prepare baked goods for special diets. • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. STOCKING & MERCHANDISING Replenish and rotate displays. Receive and stock ingredients and other supplies as needed. Dispose of damaged or spoiled goods appropriately (compost whenever possible). Remove trash, clean cases, keep prep and storage areas clean and orderly. Label products with appropriate PLU, and allergens. DEPARTMENT MAINTENANCE Assist in ensuring food prep and storage areas are maintained in sanitary, orderly condition meeting health department standards. Follow department guidelines for proper storage and labeling procedures. Assist in maintaining department equipment in working order. Follow department guidelines for proper lifting techniques. Be mindful of potential hazards to customers and employees. Report potential hazards to management. SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES Follow GreenStar’s safety rules. Assist other employees in safety needs. Report unsafe equipment and conditions. Participate in safety training programs, assist with accident investigation. Perform other tasks as assigned to ensure a safe and healthy work environment. STOREWIDE AND OTHER DUTIES Attend Human Resources trainings, all-staff meetings, department meetings, and OBM Huddles to stay informed. Support on-the-job training of new staff. Read GreenStar publications to stay informed. Respect and comply with storewide personnel policies. Adhere to scheduled shifts. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS Previous production baking and decorating experience. Communication – effective interpersonal communication with team members. Demonstrated ability to follow through on commitments. Open to input/feedback on work performance. Open to giving input/feedback on Bakery department. Self-Driven/Motivated throughout shift. Knowledge or interest in learning about natural foods, local vendors, local farms. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple demands, stay calm, and prioritize. Ability to lift 50 pounds.
