Description:

This is an exciting Learning and Development role that will suit an enthusiastic and dynamic individual with a keen interest in developing the best possible use of available learning technologies.
You will use your knowledge and skills to contribute to the development of technology based learning programmes, create elearning content, co-ordinate and deliver IT training to our staff.
As part of the team, you will offer a blended approach for learning to our staff which incorporates: face to face training, elearning, virtual, and one to one where appropriate. This will involve both formal and informal teaching and support.
Learning solutions will include the development of text based user guides, online resources, as well as face to face teaching with staff, both individually and in groups.
You will work in partnership with subject specialists to design and develop high quality elearning content hosted on our Learning Management System.
A professional teaching qualification is highly desirable. The post holder will have excellent organisational skills and attention to detail. You must be able to work to tight deadlines and have an adaptable approach to keep pace with constant changes.
We are AWP (Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust) a diverse organisation with over 5,000 dedicated staff providing inpatient and community-based mental health care. We provide services from a range of locations to approximately 1.8 million people living in Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES), Bristol, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire, Swindon, across the county of Wiltshire and in parts of Dorset. Our outstanding people promote mental health and wellbeing. The expertise and resources within AWP are dedicated to a person-centred approach for those who use our services and for all employees. We recognise that happy and fulfilled employees give better care.
At AWP we actively encourage applicants from all backgrounds; we are particularly keen to encourage applications from people from Black, Asian and minority ethnic backgrounds, those with disabilities and from the LGBTQ+ community. We want people to bring their unique blend of experiences, backgrounds, perspectives and knowledge to AWP, as diversity makes us stronger.
1. Support L&D Team Leaders, co-ordinators and trainers to enable them to make the best possible use of technology to support learning
a. Learning technologies, including the use of mobile technology, are developing fast, and the postholder will need to be enthusiastic and active in developing their skills and knowledge in the field. This will involve formal learning, informal networking and personal research to ensure a thorough understanding of the issues.
b. You will work alongside L&D Team Leaders, Co-ordinators and associate trainers to ensure that all those delivering training are competent and confident in the use of IT to support learning. This will include supporting trainers to develop their skills in the use of online training, enhancing PowerPoint presentations through the use of embedded video or web based material, introducing new interactive feedback tools, developing and using online training delivery systems eg Microsoft Teams, exploring the potential of developing mobile technologies, etc.
c. You will offer group and individual teaching and support to all trainers,
including clinical associates and those with lived experience. This will involve both formal and informal teaching and support, as well as on occasion co-working with trainers to enable them to develop their confidence.
2. Contributing to the development of technology based learning programmes
a. There is increasing demand for short, fairly simple elearning packages to be developed to meet particular learning needs within the organisation.
b. You will develop your skills, for example in the use of Storyline or other software packages, to enable you to produce short learning modules in partnership with subject specialists, as required.
c. This will involve contributing to the identification of learning needs and key messages, and helping to identify the most appropriate learning methodologies in each circumstance.
3. Co-ordination and delivery of face to face training as appropriate
a. There will still remain a need for face to face training as necessary, although it is likely that this work will decrease over time, as better use is made of developing learning technologies.
b. Working closely with subject or system experts, the postholder will contribute to the identification of learning needs and most appropriate teaching methods.
c. The postholder will co-ordinate and deliver face to face/online training as needed, or will liaise with external training providers to ensure delivery of training as appropriate, managing programmes of training and development within previously agreed budgetary parameters.
d. The target group will include staff needing to use a range of different IT
applications, helping them to develop their confidence in the use of computer hardware, the Windows operating system, and applications such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Internet as well as bespoke systems, and will inevitably include a range of needs, from people who have no IT knowledge at all, through to more confident users.
e. Learning solutions will include the development of text based user guides, online resources, face to face teaching with staff, both individually and in groups, as well as enabling staff to access appropriate learning technologies.
f. The postholder will monitor, evaluate and review the quality and effectiveness of training delivered, ensuring that all programmes are reviewed on an annual basis.
4. Contribute towards ensuring best possible use of all aspects of the Learning Management System.
a. The Learning Technologies team will work alongside colleagues in the L&D Support team to ensure the best possible use of the LMS, including
contributing to the production of reports of training activity in a range of formats as and when required
b. Using your skills and understanding of IT systems, and developing your
understanding of the capabilities of the LMS, you will work alongside
colleagues in the L&D Support team to help them develop their skills and
confidence in the use of the system
