Job Description Band 5: £31,049 - £37,796 Hours:37.5 per week Fixed term contract: 12 months Come and start your career in a supportive learning environment with a friendly team based on the south coast of England with ease of access to London and the South. We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic early career Orthoptist to join the department based at Queen Alexandra Hospital Portsmouth for a fixed term period of 12 months. You will join a forward thinking department of 4.8 WTE Orthoptists, 0.6 WTE Orthoptic Assistant and 4 Optometrists. The Ophthalmology department has 15 Ophthalmologists, three of which specialise in paediatric ophthalmology and ocular motility. The successful candidate will be keen to develop their knowledge and skills, be a flexible and reliable member of the team and will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. You will be actively supported by a mentor. Candidates must have a degree/diploma in Orthoptics and current registration with HCPC is essential. Job Summary To diagnose and treat ocular motility and vision function and binocular vision problems in adults and children as an autonomous practitioner. To liaise with Head Orthoptist regarding problems during treatment. To be responsible for planning and implementing orthoptic treatment plans/care pathways for patients of all ages. To refer complex ophthalmic problems to an Ophthalmologist as necessary. Screening at satellite clinics. To work as part of a flexible team.
