“Applications are invited for a full time Pathology Assistant post in Histopathology and Cytopathology. The main purpose of the post is to support the clinical work of Cellular Pathology consultants, so it will mainly comprise “cut-up”. The latter is part of the work of the consultant histopathologist which can be delegated to a suitably trained junior colleague; this frees up consultant time for functions that cannot be delegated to a junior, such as writing pathology reports and attending Multidisciplinary Cancer Meetings.
The candidate should have Biological sciences degree preferably MBBS or MBBCh and FRCPath or equivalents. The candidate should have a background general histopathology experience . He/she should have poven experience of “cut-up” in a hospital Histopathology laboratory. The candidate should be willing to work one day during weekend if the need arises.

Our patients are benefitting from our Women’s Health Hub in Ilford; an Ageing Well Centre in Hornchurch; and Community Diagnostic Centres (CDC) at Barking Community Hospital and at St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub in Hornchurch.
These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week and are providing an extra 88,000 scans a year.
