Medical Same Day Emergency Care Unit, is a unique day unit based within Stepping Hill Hospital that aims to streamline patient care in order to provide same day treatment, reducing the need for patients to be admitted. Patients are referred to MSDEC in various ways including through the Emergency Department, GP, Community services and ambulance service.
MSDEC sees a variety of patients with medical conditions and often has a high turnover of patients; this requires the post holder to be confident in working in a high pressure environment.
As a registered practitioner you will work alongside both registered and unregistered staff all of whom are competent, committed and proud to deliver an excellent standard of care to our patients.
The post holder will be responsible for delivering highly skilled nursing care to patients, using a person-centred approach. Effective communications skills should be used alongside a systemic approach when assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating care given to patients to ensure a high standard.
The post holder is required to demonstrate empathy and compassion when engaging with patients and their families by recognising and responding effectively to their individual needs. This also means working collaboratively with members of the multi-disciplinary team to provide effective treatment and care.
It is the responsibility of the post holder to maintain their NMC registration and work within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct at all times.
