This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated Dietitian who has an interest in working in a Community Adult Disorders Service. This role is a fixed-term 12 month position for maternity cover.
The post holder will provide specialist dietetic input to adults with eating disorders in the community and in Day service. It will involve working with service users and multidisciplinary team members to identify and address the complex psychological and social factors that affect dietary treatment thus enabling long term/ permanent lifestyle changes.
You will be expected to work collaboratively with key partner organisations, service users, carers, clinicians and other practitioners in delivery of services.

Job purpose
To be responsible for the provision of high-quality dietetic service to a clinical caseload in eating disorders, using a high level of skills and knowledge as an independent practitioner.
To contribute to the development and implementation of evidence based clinical and teaching practice. Providing specialist advice and education in the designated speciality.
To work within the Eating Disorders Team is a multi disciplinary team approach and assist in the operational management of the department
To provide high quality patient care, clinical governance reports and reporting on key performance indicators
CLINICAL CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The dietitian is responsible for a clinical caseload providing specialist advice to patients and carers by undertaking the following:
Determine/diagnose the appropriate dietetic treatment and develop effective management plans in respect of planned therapeutic intervention.
Dietetic assessment and calculation of dietetic requirements of referred patients considering medical, biochemical, social, cultural, and psychological factors.
Provide nutrition and dietary advice suitable to the patient’s medical, biochemical, social and cultural factors which is based on current evidence, incorporating local professional and national guidelines and standards.
Work with patients to enable them to achieve targets overcoming barriers to change including dietary, environmental, and social factors.
Monitor and review dietetic care plans against outcomes, manage, and adjust care plan to facilitate achievement of goals.
Ensure dietetic interventions can be implemented through continued collaborative interdisciplinary working in and outside Trust by attending and participating in multidisciplinary meetings, case conferences etc.
Ensure up to date and accurate records of all assessments and interventions in medical, nursing, and dietetic documentation in line with department, trust and government directives.
Ensure safe and timely discharge of patients by providing relevant information to key professionals and agencies and following relevant procedures
To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of work.
Undertake the assessment of clients using investigative and analytical skills to formulate individual treatment plans
Accept clinical responsibility under supervision for a designated case load some with complex presentations prioritising need and taking on the role of co-ordinator where relevant.
Plan and implement client centred individual, group interventions, and supported eating, using clinical reasoning and a range of treatment interventions to achieve therapeutic goals.
Monitor, evaluate and modify treatment for clients in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of intervention
Provide dietetic services in working conditions which may be hazardous e.g. exposure to body fluids, aggressive persons,
Assess capacity, gain valid informed consent and work within a legal framework with clients who lack capacity to consent to treatment.
Work with clients, carers and relatives who may have distressing social/clinical circumstances.
Contribute to the continued development of the overall service.
Risk management
Monitor and maintain health and safety and security of self and others in the work area, and comply with the statutory requirements of the Trust’s and Departments policies and procedures.
Identify potential risks in work activities within trust procedures on risk management and take appropriate action.
Take appropriate action to manage an emergency situation with patient or colleagues
Communication The dietitian will establish and maintain effective communication with individuals, and groups about difficult or complex matters by: -
Documentation Ensure that up to date written and electronic records and activity data are maintained in accordance with Professional and Trust standards

Leadership supervision & appraisal Review and reflect on own practice and performance through effective use of professional and operational supervision and appraisal.
Undertake the supervision and appraisal of junior staff as delegated by a senior member of staff.
Demonstrate basic leadership skills through involvement in designated projects.
Training staff & students - participate in the planning and implementation of the induction, training and education of students and other staff
Providing supervision during allocated placement and mentoring support as required
Designing and developing training resources and lead relevant tutorials /worksheets.
Assessing and providing feedback on clinical, written, presentations and other evidence collated during placement using clinical supervisory skills when appropriate.
Service development & delivery Identify gaps in staff resources and new developments that will impact on provision and liaise with Dietetic management.
Participate in the planning, evaluation and audit of practice, clinical pathways and protocols within the service area.
Participate in the delivery of the Therapy Services and Trust Strategies.
