Description:

The North Somerset area of Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust is now seeking an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our team within a mental health setting to use their skills to assess and treat the complex needs of people with both mental health and physical problems. This unique opportunity will see you providing Occupational Therapy interventions across two later life wards at the Long fox Unit.
Our current team consists of OT assistants, preceptor OT’s, band 6 OT’s and Zoe Tippetts, the manager.

This exciting opportunity will allow you to utilise your skills across the 2 wards in North Somerset:

  • Older adult functional.
  • Older adult organic.

Within this post you will have the opportunity to develop your skills as a holistic practitioner whilst having the full support of your OT colleagues and wider multidisciplinary team. Within this post you will complete comprehensive OT assessments with a focus on developing and maintaining independence during admission to support and facilitate discharge planning. This can be carried out through 1:1 assessments, group work and MDT working.

Working as a specialist occupational therapist you will provide occupational therapy assessment and interventions working within the in-Patient wards in North Somerset.
You will work with the band 7 occupational therapist and the wider OT team of registered OT’s, an OT apprentice and OT support worker, to coordinate and support the day to day running of the service, you will supervise OT staff and be committed to supporting students on placements. There will be an opportunity to develop within a speciality and progress your career journey in occupational therapy.
You will be required to work within the hospital but also facilitate home assessments and community access visits.
