We are looking for an experienced Band Teacher to join our Morven Campus (grades 8-12). The ideal candidate is a caring and passionate educator who revels in the craft and power of music and performance. Both inspiring and innovative, the candidate is a collaborative and engaging educator who demonstrates excellence in instructional and assessment practices and is committed to ongoing professional growth, and who will demonstrate the ability to contribute to the many facets of school life including extra-curricular responsibilities. This is a Permanent Full-Time position that will start immediately.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver the BC Ministry of Education’s Curriculum at or beyond Ministry requirements
  • Create a learning atmosphere that is inclusive, empowering, and enriching – through adaptation and differentiation – within a highly motivated learning environment
  • Teach both Middle (8-9) and Senior (10-12) Jazz and concert bands both on and off the time table
  • Direct and oversee Collingwood’s indoor marching drumline program
  • Collaboratively organize, host and run a number of major and minor performances and concerts as scheduled by the school
  • Organize, participate and lead school trips both nationally and internationally if applicable
  • Engage in ongoing professional development; motivated and willing to take risks in the implementation of new pedagogical and assessment practice

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Music degree; a Master’s degree or equivalent is an asset
  • Experience teaching Instrumental music at the Grade 8 -12 level and experience in contemporary music production technique
  • BC Teaching Certification
  • Basic First Aid
  • Canadian residency and legally entitled to work in Canada

Preferred qualifications and experiences

  • Experience with high school marching drumline
  • Experience in live sound production
  • Experience teaching choral music

The current 2025-26 faculty grid annual salary range for this position is $75,322 to $112,169 based on years of experience and a Bachelor of Education.
