Overview Bander Operator Needed! Humboldt Sawmill Company, LLC (HSC) is looking for a Bander Operator to join our Team in Scotia, CA. This is a non-exempt position at an hourly rate of $23.87 and includes full benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K matching and life insurance. The Mendocino Companies (Mendocino Forest Products Company, Mendocino Redwood Company, Humboldt Redwood Company, Humboldt Sawmill Company, and Allweather Wood) own nearly 450,000 acres of Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC® C031337) certificated redwood and Douglas-fir timberland, constitute the largest waterborne wood treater in the Western USA, and is the largest producer of redwood lumber in the world. Collectively providing 950 employees and their families with excellent wages and benefits in communities throughout the Western USA. Additionally, the Mendocino Companies own and operate a 25-megaWatt biomass cogeneration power plant and wood pellet plant. Responsibilities The Bander Operator runs the transfers to the Bands. Aligns units in preparation to Band units and prepare for shipping in a safe productive manner. Bands lumber for shipment according to Company specifications. Places spacers and corner protectors on lumber units. May drive forklift to replenish sticking and banding supplies. All other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Two to five years related sawmill experience and/or training preferred. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to read and understand instructions and memos. Ability to write simple sentences. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Basic algebra and geometry. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration from machinery such as saws, conveyors, and hydraulic systems. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions, as well as high, precarious places including catwalks, scaffolding, and elevated work areas. The employee is also exposed to a variety of weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow, when working in or around outdoor areas of the facility. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, requiring the consistent use of hearing protection in designated areas. The employee is required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as mandated b company policy and OSHA Standards, which may include: Safety glasses or face shields, hearing protection, safety gloves, steel-toe safety footwear, hard hats, and respiratory protection if necessary. Responsibilities

The Bander Operator runs transfers to the Bands and aligns units in preparation for banding and shipping. They are responsible for ensuring that lumber is banded according to company specifications and may also drive a forklift to replenish supplies.
