We have an incredible new opportunity for a Bank Construction Tutor to join Landau. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading on the design, development and delivery of the Construction Qualification to meet the diverse needs of learners including those with Higher needs
  • Delivering engaging lessons construction related subjects, including but not limited to carpentry, bricklaying and general building skills, in accordance with the curriculum and industry standards.
  • Providing hands on practical sessions, ensuring learners gain the skills required for real-world construction environments.
  • Establishing and maintain an effective learning environment, in line with behaviour management policies, safeguarding students and employees health and safety
  • Assessing student work, provide constructive feedback, and ensure learners meet course requirements and deadlines.
  • Managing the support worker while in the learning environment to support the students
  • Offering academic and pastoral support to students, encouraging their progression and development.
  • Maintaining accurate records of learners’ progress and attendance and report to the appropriate staff members as required.
  • Staying up-to-date with construction industry trends and engage with local employers to support the relevance of course content.
  • Working with colleagues to plan assessments, observations and moderations highlighting areas for development and promoting good practice
  • Achieving a minimum retention rate of 85%
  • Completing regular learner reviews and reports for leadership and parents/carers
  • Committing to professional development cascading and sharing professional insight and staying abreast of statutory and non-statutory guidance relevant to the programme delivery

SKILLS AND CORE COMPETENCIES

Technical competency (qualifications and training certificates/licenses)

  • Teaching qualification (E)
  • Subject specialist qualification (E)
  • Strong IT skills and competence with Microsoft suite (D)
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of SEND learners, where applicable (E)

Experience

  • Subject specific experience of at least 2 years
  • Familiarity with embedding English and Maths into vocational training.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations within the construction industry.
  • Good knowledge of compliance and quality assurance requirements for awarding bodies
