OVERVIEW

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation and a desire to learn within a fast-paced kitchen environment. As an Assistant Cook, you will support the head cook in meal preparation, ensuring that all dishes are prepared to the highest standards of quality and food safety.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous experience in food preparation or a similar role within a kitchen or restaurant setting is preferred but not essential.
  • Basic knowledge of culinary techniques and food safety practices is advantageous.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in meal preparation and presentation.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and take direction from senior kitchen staff.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as required.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of meals according to established recipes and menus.
  • Help maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including washing dishes and sanitising work areas.
  • Support the head cook in managing inventory, including checking stock levels and assisting with ordering supplies as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to food safety regulations and proper handling of ingredients.
  • Participate in the presentation of dishes, ensuring they meet quality standards before serving.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow during busy service periods.
  • Contribute ideas for menu items and improvements based on customer feedback.
