Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute fully to the mission and values statement of the College, ensuring its effective implementation in all aspects of College life.
  • Contribute to the College and curriculum area strategic objectives and actively engage in the annual review.
  • Stay informed of national developments in the subject area and update knowledge and skills annually.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons to manage the learning process effectively.
  • Plan and use a range of effective and appropriate teaching and learning techniques to engage and motivate students, encouraging independence and student autonomy.
  • Establish a purposeful and motivating learning environment where students feel safe, secure, confident, and valued.
  • Establish and maintain procedures with students that promote appropriate behaviour, communication, and respect, while challenging discriminatory behaviour and attitudes.
  • Set and mark work according to College and School Assessment policies, and record work carried out and assessment outcomes.
  • Track all students’ progress and attendance in accordance with College systems and policies.
  • Provide a balance of appropriate teaching styles and learning experiences.
  • Be aware of external/internal assessment procedures and participate in their implementation.
  • Evaluate and improve communication skills to maximise effective communication and overcome barriers.
  • Liaise with the Head of School to contribute to the design of programmes and teaching approaches that enable curriculum areas to achieve high standards and value-added outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the Head of School and curriculum teams in the administration necessary to support teaching, learning, and assessment in the subject area.
  • Work with colleagues to identify and address additional student English and Maths skills development in the subject area.
  • Review own professional development needs and participate in future training and development opportunities.
  • Communicate and consult with parents, carers, and students, including for Parent’s Evening, Welcome Evenings, events, and open evenings.
  • Ensure all students in the subject area comply with the College’s policies and procedures.
  • Provide enriching opportunities that are exciting, motivating, and enhance the student experience.
  • To contribute fully to the mission and values of the college Group ensuring its effective implementation in all aspects of college life.
  • To take a proactive approach to Health and Safety requirements at all times.
  • Be committed to the Safeguarding of children and young people.
  • To act as an ambassador for the College, promoting Equality Diversity and Inclusion.
  • To carry out such other relevant and appropriate duties within the framework of a post of this grade that may from time to time be required at a location determined by the needs of the service.
